A recent study undertaken by WARC with Festival of Media Asia Pacific (FOMAP) and Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) had a few interesting findings which share that Indian brands have a long way to go with mobile marketing and branding.
Here is some information that might be of use for you:
- 71% agencies admit that most clients do not have a formal branding process in place for mobiles
- 78% brand owners are yet to consider mobile as a priority and only 10% or lesser budget is allocated for mobile marketing purposes
- Most respondents believe that the allocation may increase up to 30% by 2019
A total of 316 respondents participated from 24 markets across Asia Pacific for this survey.

While at the global level paid search and mobile seems the way to go, this data reflects that India still has immense potential to reach there. The predictions on increase in budget allocation for mobiles is without a doubt a positive sign for mobile marketing in India.
