We spoke to Aniket Dhuri from Research And Ranking this week to know about his professional journey in the digital marketing space and understand what keeps him motivated.

Here’s a glimpse of his regular workday and some handy tips that he follows in his everyday life.

  1. How does your normal working day look like?

“Houston, we have a problem” is the most common phrase I listen throughout the day. Be it from the sales team regarding lead flow, quality of leads or from my Google AdWords team that we need more budget for new campaigns; everyone comes with their problem. So just like any other digital marketing guy, the day is “Chaotic, Rock n Roll and Adventurous”. However, at the end of the day, with understanding and right guidance from the management and genius team members, we solve things comfortably.

  1. What are the most helpful tools according to you that help you get the job done efficiently?

I wish “Equanimity” was a platform and I would have sold its subscription to everyone. In terms of digital marketing, various tools are helpful for diverse reasons. For example, Ahrefs, Serpstat for SEO, HubSpot for inbound marketing and sales, Leanplum for mobile marketing are among my favorite ones. Eventually, among everyone, Microsoft Excel is the King of north and pivot tables are his sworn knights.

  1. How did you get into digital marketing? What do you love about your job?

Oh. That’s an interesting question.

The only answer is awesome bosses rather than godfathers that I had in my career. Someone has said it rightly that “your boss makes so much impact on your life. They will either teach you how a boss should be or how it should not be.”

10 years of career journey, started from “A Security Guard for a well-known internet company to now working as Digital Marketing Manager for a reputed Financial institution it was all because of them.

I have always been a hardcore programmer. In the initial stage of my career, I was working with ITAakash (Now StrategicERP) where my core programming strength increased. This is where I learned website development skills on various platforms with different programming languages and SEO. Then, I was working with AKR, where I was managing HUL’s account. From 2011-12, HUL slowly started moving their spending budget from offline activities and events to online promotion i.e. Social media platform promotion, SEO, SEM. That was the turning point of my career when I realised I can utilise my core technical knowledge and marketing skills combined into one career goal.

Digital marketing is full of an adrenaline rush. Its evolving every day with new exciting things in its closet to learn, that’s what makes me love my work.

  1. Tell us about your hobbies. What do you do to unwind from the busy working life?

I like trekking, cycling. Also, I am a pilot paraglider. Whenever I get time, I like to take my time off from the online world and spend some time admiring the beauty of the nature.

Every year, I aim to learn new things which will help me grow as an individual. I have learned Salsa, Bachata and a few languages so far. I hope to learn and discover many more new things in future.

  1. Any advice for people who want to get into this dynamic digital marketing space?

Like everyone I hate Littlefinger but he had a wise advice for everyone.

“Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, they cling to the real or the gods or love. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is.”

My advice for aspirants who wish to pursue a career in this dynamic space would be to read, learn, unlearn and learn again. The biggest investment would be to upgrade yourself and not get comfortable with status quo.
